The Itsekiri National Congress USA (INC-USA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of Itsekiri Regions in the United States. Founded in 2025 and organized into eight chartered Regions — NorCal, NY/NJ, Houston, Dallas DFW, Florida, Chicago, DMV, and Colorado — INC-USA exists to strengthen unity, build credible governance, and deliver measurable programs that uplift Itsekiris in the diaspora and strengthen Iwere Land. The first national pillar is Iwere Care, a telehealth program staffed by volunteer diaspora physicians serving Niger Delta communities; it has been in pilot since 2025 and expands at the Convention. Iwere Academy, scholarships, the Business Network, the Buy Itsekiri directory, and a Bereavement Fund round out current and in-design programs. The Second National Convention takes place September 3–6, 2026, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront in Burlingame, California — Saturday's plenary covers the article-by-article ratification of the proposed Constitution and the open-ballot election of the next Executive Committee per Article 12.6 of the proposed Constitution. INC-USA's EIN is 33-3023590; financials and Form 990 will publish after fiscal year 2026 closes. Press contact: press@itsekirinationalcongress.org.

§ Diaspora civic governance

A 501(c)(3) becomes a constitutional body

INC-USA is a working laboratory for diaspora civic governance — a federation of eight regional Itsekiri associations operating as a single 501(c)(3) under one written Constitution. Convention 2026 marks the article-by-article ratification of that Constitution, the first open-ballot biennial election of officers, and the public commitment to open books, open minutes, and open ballots. Article 12 specifically codifies how Regions vote: one Region, one vote, on the floor of the Convention plenary.

§ Health equity story

Diaspora physicians, telehealth, and the Niger Delta

Iwere Care, INC-USA's first national pillar, has been in pilot since 2025. Volunteer Itsekiri physicians in the United States deliver primary care via video to community health hubs in Warri, Sapele, and the riverine villages of the Niger Delta — places where specialist care has historically required hours of travel. The Convention announces the expansion across all six community hubs and the unveil of a unified member app that handles telehealth scheduling, scholarship applications, and Region governance in one place.

§ Cultural preservation

Children born far from Warri — and the institutions to keep them rooted

Iwere Academy, the Buy Itsekiri directory of diaspora-owned businesses, the Bereavement Fund for member families, and the Heritage Gala on Saturday evening of the Convention all answer one underlying question: how does a diaspora preserve Itsekiri language, food, ritual, and economic kinship two generations after migration? Photos and quotes available from the Saturday gala.
