The box we hope will launch
a clinic.
A satellite dish, solar power, a tablet and everything a nurse needs to see a patient. That is the kit we are designing, so that a new site could open in about a week once a partner and a community are ready. Our planning estimate: $12,000 per kit. No kits have been deployed yet. Our pilot runs at Jakpa and Ugbege health centres in Warri North; Warri Central and Sapele are planned.
Twelve things we plan to pack for one clinic.
Subject to change
Starlink satellite dish
Satellite internet so video visits can work where mobile data is weak.
Solar panels and battery
Planned size about 3 kWp of panels with a 10 kWh battery, to keep the centre running through power cuts.
Android tablet · 12″
To run the nurse console, patient record and video visit app we are building.
Digital stethoscope
Pairs to the tablet so a volunteer physician can listen during a video visit.
Blood pressure cuff (adult and large)
Automatic inflation, with readings sent to the patient record by Bluetooth.
Glucose meter + 300 strips
For diabetes checks, with strips re-ordered before they run out.
Otoscope · pocket LED
For ear, nose and throat exams. Disposable specula included.
Pulse oximeter + vitals monitor
Tracks oxygen saturation and heart rate. Clip-on, syncs to the tablet.
Portable power bank · 200 Wh
For home visits. Charges the cuff, oximeter and tablet between households.
Thermal printer
Discharge summaries, prescription labels and patient cards.
Patient card stock · 500 count
Cards the nurse can print with a patient name and QR code at the first visit.
Biohazard bin + 1 year of consumables
Gauze, syringes, sharps box, gloves (S/M/L/XL), alcohol swabs, disinfectant wipes.
Order to first patient.

Community letter of support
A clinic is a box you open, then a room you fill.
We are designing the hardware and software. We are recruiting volunteer physicians. What a hub kit can never ship is the person who greets an older patient at the door, and that person could be you.
